One of my rituals for each new year is to choose a word to influence me for the year. My word for 2011 is EXPERIMENT. To support my EXPERIMENTAL focus, I commit to post the results of a new experiment each Sunday of this year.
I don’t love doing my taxes though. In fact, I dread it. For years, I’ve spent more time dreading preparing my taxes than it actually took me to complete the preparation part.
So this year I choose to make tax-time a new experience. That was my experiment for this week.
I put on my favorite comfy outfit. I poured some homemade lemonade. I brought out my favorite chocolate (in moderation, of course :)). And I listened to a special ITunes Tax Day PlayList. Then I simply got the job done.
Ya know what?
An event I dread every year became an event I actually enjoyed.
This experiment became much less about the taxes and more about choosing to change my perspective of it.
How has changing your perspective of some you dread affected you?
